Rebel Wilson and the curious case of being outed
As someone who reads the news frequently, I came across the biggest thing that happened the past couple of days, which is the Rebel Wilson and the Australian newspaper scandal.
If you’re not aware, what basically happened was that Rebel Wilson had to come out as gay, otherwise the newspaper would have done that first.
Now, I don’t know about you, but that sounds a bit like the dark ages of humanity, where you’re trying to hurt someone by using their sexuality against them, for some reason beyond logic, reason, and understanding.
Like we’ve also seen recently, with the Wade vs Roe case, why is it to someone to damage some people whom wouldn’t be affected by this at all?
And unlike that case, we’re it’s primarily straight white males, this Australian one is from a gay white male, which is more mystifying in the grand scheme of allies that you should seek help from.
I guess you could say that this guy had the scoop to get clicks and sell papers by inflicting media, and potentially mental, pain upon someone, but if the only way you can provide value is by being malicious, then maybe you should approach a cliff and see if that changes your perspective.
Can you imagine where we’d be if we wouldn’t be so disparaging to one another?
